Sandra Bounds | Huntsville ISD

"It was August 1993. We had just finished the district opening meeting, and my mentor teacher Shelia Sims said, 'We need to stop at this table.' She handed me a form and said, 'Sign here and write a check for the dues.' I followed directions well back then. I handed the form and the check to the folks at the table, and they said, "Hey, you would be a great officer." Before the end of the day, I was a local officer and a member of ATPE, and I'm not sure which happened first. I didn't know how important it was to join an organization then, but my mentor did, and she made sure I chose the best."
