"ATPE Past State President Sam Spurlock was my recruiter. I started my education career in Olney, Texas. As I was setting up my classroom for my very first teaching position, Sam came to my room with an application in his hand and said. "You need this.' That was the beginning of my ATPE story. He was also the first one to encourage my volunteer leadership roles within the association. He has been an amazing mentor, and I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to work with Sam."
