Allen Bettis | Klein ISD

"I was a paraprofessional working as a one-on-one aide for a student who was diagnosed with PDD. The teachers at Langham Creek High School advised me to sign up for ATPE. The reason they gave me was legal protection because this student could say anything, and at times it was expected that I would be alone with the student. Everything turned out very well, and the student progressed and grew to the point that he needed a one-on-one aide very little, if at all, and he later graduated. I am now an economics teacher at Klein Forest High School and am still a member of ATPE 20 years later. I am also the president of my local unit."
