"My sister, Maria 'Aggie' Aguirre recruited me in the late 80s, and I have been a member ever since. I went from a teachers' aide to a special ed teacher to a retired teacher/substitute, and all that time I had peace of mind as far as my job was concerned. I became a campus rep many years ago and am currently secretary of Weslaco ATPE in Region 1. Last year I recruited five-plus teacher aides."
