"I moved back to Texas in 1991 and joined the same group I had belonged to in college eight years earlier. When I began teaching in Texas, I inquired about my certification and what test I needed to take. I was told the timeline for taking the test. I made plans and had the test scheduled for later in the year. I learned that the information I had been given was wrong when I was removed from the classroom because I hadn't taken the state test. The group I belonged to at the time was of no help. I joined ATPE as soon as I could and have been a member ever since."
