"I am new to the district, and my mentor asked me what association I was with. She said [belonging to an association] was not required but was a must. It will help and protect me with, God forbid, lawsuits and legal stuff. She said she was a member for more than 20 years but never had one lawsuit, but that it is like buying insurance for a low price. That is the reason I joined, [but I soon learned] ATPE is not just for that. It has a lot of professional growth activities and even day-to-day teacher stuff. I am very thankful for having my mentor and for her introducing me to ATPE."
